The Shipyard Memory Wall
(Red Lead Arts) 2003 - 2006
Belfast men and women were the curators of the Shipyard Memory Wall. Former shipyard workers and families, old residents of East Belfast and Greater Belfast and anyone with memorabilia or a memory contributed to the wall over 4 years as part of the Titanic - Made in Belfast Festival.
As the photos illustrate the items crossed the decades. From photographs of ships to shipyard colleagues, letters, poems as well as luggage labels giving the name, the date and the memory.
The memory wall was an attempt by Red Lead Arts to illustrate the wealth of local knowledge, memorabilia and oral history attached to Harland and Wolff and encourage Titanic Quarter to create a diverse and authentic respresentation of industrial heritage as part of it's signature project.
